Here we have the London 2012 Olympic/Paralympic mascots Wenlock and Mandeville.  Mandeville, which is the blue one, is named after Stoke Mandeville Hospital and will be the mascot for the Paralympic games. Wenlock, the orange one, is named after the town of Much Wenlock which helped inspire Pierre de Coubertin to found the Modern Olympic games in 1896.
The mascots have been met with much criticism, especially in Canada where they have been described as “walking alien penis creatures”, “terrifying penis monsters”, “partly blinded Teletubbies” with one Canadian commenting, “It looks like someone spat on the ground and laid a Union Jack over it.” It is the opinion of many in Britain that the Canadians have decided to attack the Olmpic mascots because of the negative comments on their hosting of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
